Wednesday, December 1 | Luke 1:1-4

1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

What does this passage say about our God? I do not think Luke realized how God was going to use his desire to proclaim the truth about Jesus. He obviously went made a significant effort to write down a true account of Jesus, based on eyewitnesses. I believe that he interviewed Mary and others to get the information we have in these first couple chapters of the gospel of Luke. This passage reminds me that God uses us even when we don’t realize he is at work in us and through us. Father God, thank you so much for giving us great privilege of being coworkers with you through Christ. Help us at Messiah prepare an Advent to truly celebrate…

What a giant of Christianity was Dr Luke. A man of absolute faith who spent years with the disciples. He wrote Acts, and penned the his Gospel to Theopholis “Lover of God”. We praise God for filling this mighty man with the Holy Spirit and for enabling him to share the witness of those who originally followed Christ.

As a writer, I can identify with Luke's mission and determination. Sometimes I start a project that's so huge I can't fathom how it will all come together. But I ask God, and He gives me the wisdom I need to write with clarity. Luke was writing under the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the world has been blessed and changed by the compelling events that he chronicled.
