  • About Jesus | Messiah-Online

HOW TO ASK JESUS TO BE YOUR SAVIOR God made you. And God loves you! No one lives a perfect life or does everything they should. Everyone needs forgiveness. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Everyone deserves to be punished. We've all failed to love God and others. We need God's gift of Jesus. For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard. (Romans 3:23) God sent Jesus to take our punishment and die for us. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Jesus came alive and rose from the dead. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8) Open the door of your heart to Jesus. Jesus said, "Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends." (Revelation 3:20) You can pray a prayer similar to this one: Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross for me. Please forgive all I've done wrong. Come into my life and be my Savior. Thank you for loving me and giving me eternal life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me live for you. Amen. As soon as you ask Jesus for his forgiveness, you can be sure he forgives you. Trust God's promise that Jesus is your Savior and that you have a home in heaven. For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

  • Luke's Research on Jesus | Messiah-Online

Luke’s Research on Jesus Luke was a doctor whose research on Jesus portrays His heart for the lost, the poor, the disabled, and the undervalued, such as women and children. This is illustrated primarily through the miracles, testimonies and parables that are unique to the Gospel of Luke. These include Mary becoming the mother of Jesus; the one leper returning to thank Jesus; and the parables of the Good Samaritan, the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. • Anger: Appropriate or Inappropriate? | Messiah-Online

ANGER: Appropriate or Inappropriate? A recent poll says that 69% of Americans are either very or somewhat angry about how things are going in our country. God’s Word has a great deal of wisdom for us about the roots of anger, when it is appropriate, and how to overcome inappropriate anger. This sermon series focuses on how we can serve as a light for Christ by showing an angry world healthy ways to handle emotions. • Run the Race to Win - Summer-Fall 2020 | Messiah-Online

Sermon Series | June-July 2020 Sermon Series | Summer-Fall 2020 How do we run the race of life in the midst of a pandemic? And what does winning look like? When our in-person services were first affected by COVID-19, I thought this would be a short-term issue, more like running a sprint or a quick obstacle course. Making the jump to hold online services meant overcoming a wall for us. Now, however, it seems like we are in the midst of a marathon. -- Pastor Marty O'Rourke What goes into running — and finishing — a marathon? How do we prepare ourselves physically and mentally? Who will run with us? And what happens if we fall and hurt ourselves? Messiah member Vivian Hayes, a runner herself, shares this insight: Whether on a course filled with obstacles or on a flat road, the longer one remains on that course, the more challenging that appointed race becomes as physical and mental fatigue sets in. An endurance race has a different type of difficulty than a sprint. A sprint is about physical ability, whereas in an endurance race mental strength plays an important role. Join us in exploring how God will equip us to run this race together to become more like Christ. Loneliness means we do not feel truly known, seen, or understood. An epidemic of loneliness was reported years ago and has only been exacerbated by social media, political division, and the pandemic. Apart from Christ, we all experience deep loneliness; and even as believers we can fail to experience the richness of relationship God intends for us. The great news is that God’s word speaks to the issue of loneliness! We can grow healthy relationships and find true intimacy in our friendships, families, and the church. • Visions & Dreams - Advent 2015 | Messiah-Online

Advent Sermon Series God used visions and dreams to prepare His people for Jesus' first coming and to remind us of his promised return. Our Advent Sermon Series will focus on the Visions and Dreams of Advent and call us to solemnly renew ourselves in the truth of the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us, as well as His promise to return. Our church year begins with Advent, which means "coming". It reminds us that time is linear, and we are in the time between His first and second coming. The purpose of the church calendar is to use the passing of time to tell and retell the story of our redemption: the coming of Jesus into the world; His life, death and resurrection; and the outpouring of the Holy spirit on His people. The origins of the church calendar are in Leviticus 23 where God speaks to Moses about the appointed feasts, including Passover, First Fruits, Pentecost, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. These feasts were to prepare us for the coming of our Messiah and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Messiah, our Lamb of God, was sacrificed on Passover. He was resurrected from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits, becoming the first fruits of our coming resurrection, as Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 15:20. Then on the Jewish festival of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh. So this Advent, may the Lord prepare our hearts for His coming!
